A Teacher’s Greatest Joy: Seeing Jaguars Thrive

May 18, 2025

As the academic year 2024 – 2025 comes to a close, the teachers at Sydney School would like to share a few heartfelt words with our beloved Jaguars. For those in the teaching profession, the greatest success lies in witnessing our students grow, stepping forward with happiness and confidence.

To every teacher at Sydney School, Jaguars are little companions steadily making their way toward a promising future. Throughout the past academic year, on every determined step the Jaguars have taken, teachers have witnessed joy, bravery in overcoming challenges, and true growth.

Mr. Brett Taylor-Holmes shared, “True happiness is found in kindness, curiosity, and the courage to be yourself. Keep finding joy in learning and lifting others as you grow. Over the past year at Sydney School, our students have grown tremendously – not just academically, but as individuals. They’ve become more confident, more compassionate, and more resilient. We’ve seen them take initiative, collaborate with peers, take pride in their work, and approach challenges with a growth mindset. It’s been inspiring to watch them develop both the skills and the values that will carry them forward in life.”

As this beautiful academic year comes to an end, it also makes way for exciting new journeys. For our Year 1 students, Ms. Tran Thai Thao Nguyen offered heartfelt praise for their dedication and progress: “After a year of bonding, learning, and growing together, my students have made remarkable progress. From little ones who used to sound out every letter, they now read fluently and with confidence. They solve challenging math problems with skill and accuracy. Those who once only dared to whisper in the teacher’s ear are now brave and outspoken. Some have participated in presentations and competitions, others regularly raise their hands to share their ideas, and some have even taken part in interviews and videos. My students have made progress in their own unique way and learned to believe in themselves a little more. Watching their growth has been the most rewarding part of my teaching journey. Their development is a reminder that education isn’t just about grades – it’s about the journey of becoming stronger, braver, and more confident every single day.”

Representing the Secondary School, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hue also expressed her pride in the students: “To see a student take one step forward and smile with confidence – that’s a teacher’s greatest success. Having the chance to accompany my students over the past years has been an incredibly rewarding journey. I’ve witnessed their steady and deeply meaningful growth. They’ve become more confident in sharing their thoughts, more compassionate with one another, and more curious about the world around them. As a teacher, when a once-shy student speaks up, when a struggling learner chooses not to give up, or when a group works together with care and kindness – that is success to me. Watching my students grow, little by little, and smile with confidence – that is my greatest reward.”

And for Mr. Robinson Jr. Aucila Rubio, who guided students through HSIE lessons and the TEDx SISS Youth 2025: “Over the last year, I’ve watched my students blossom in remarkable ways. They’ve learned to face setbacks with courage, to lift each other up with empathy, and to find joy in small, meaningful moments. Some have discovered quiet strength in adversity, others have deepened their compassion, and many have realized that success isn’t just about grades or accolades, but about showing up authentically and supporting one another. Their growth reminds me that education isn’t just about filling minds with knowledge; it’s about nurturing hearts that can navigate life’s uncertainties with wisdom and grace. I’m so proud of how far they’ve come, and even more excited for the journeys ahead.”

As we look forward to a new academic year, we hope our Jaguars will continue their journey of nurturing happiness within themselves. And know that your teachers will always be walking beside you, every step of the way.
