From Companionship to Breakthrough
Meet two exceptional Jaguars, Tran Minh Vien Bach and Nguyen Vu Gia An, as they recount their inspiring journey of growth and success.
As another academic year is coming to an end, it leaves behind many beautiful memories in the hearts of Jaguars. At Sydney School, each student is like a small flower nurtured every day. Our students not only study, grow, and look forward to their own future, but also connect with friends around them to build meaningful relationships.
Gia An shared that after two years at the school, she clearly feels more mature in both knowledge and skills. Through each project and learning model, she has developed teamwork and leadership skills while also putting what she has learned into practice. “Each project is an opportunity for me to learn and improve myself,” Gia An expressed. Vien Bach, her classmate, also expressed his love for creative projects such as the artworks for the “100 Days of School” event and the School Year Exhibition. Through the use of brainstorming methods in group work, students encouraged each other’s ideas and turned them into collective achievements.
As two of the elder “sisters and brothers” of Jaguars, Gia An and Vien Bach have built a strong friendship by regularly supporting and helping each other. This support is especially seen in the subjects where each has their own strengths. Gia An is proficient in English and often shares useful grammar books with her friend. In return, Vien Bach is full of creative ideas for debate and teamwork projects, and he always supports Gia An when needed. When faced with difficult math problems, they discuss them together to find the most effective solutions. More than that, they shared that everyone in the class is always willing to cheer each other on to overcome academic challenges.
In addition, they are also quite excited whenever they have the chance to compete and challenge each other in a healthy manner. Gia An shared, “Many of my classmates are very good at studying, and I see that as motivation to try harder, not pressure. I always focus on developing myself, setting suitable goals, and especially maintaining a growth mindset. Alongside that, determination and personal effort are key to achieving good results.” Sharing the same perspective, Vien Bach also emphasized, “Healthy competition gives us motivation because it’s about sharing and supporting each other when needed. On the other hand, the pressure from rivalry can gradually make us tired and stressed, thus taking away the joy of being a student.”
Gia An and Vien Bach were both among the top Secondary students with the highest Math scores in the PAIS exam – a test that challenges comprehensive knowledge. This result is the outcome of a dedicated learning process and the courage to push their limits. Not only in PAIS, but both are also among the Jaguars who have achieved excellent academic performance throughout the year.

“Learning isn’t just about getting the highest scores – it’s about giving your best effort. Using the knowledge we’ve learned as preparation for the future is incredibly meaningful,” said Vien Bach, who has performed well in exams and actively participated in school activities, notably the VEX Robotics Vietnam National Championship and TEDx SISS Youth. As for Gia An, a Jaguar known for her gentle and cheerful personality, she shared, “In our learning journey, each of us has our own way to explore and grow. What matters is finding the method that suits us best.”
We hope the stories shared by Gia An and Vien Bach will be a source of inspiration for the happy community of Sydney School. If you want to go far, go together – may all Jaguars always remember this.
