Progressive Achievement Test
PAT
At Sydney Elementary and Secondary School (Sydney School - SISS), we are committed to understanding and supporting the learning journey of every student, helping them unlock their potential and make steady progress. One of the tools that helps us do this is the Progressive Achievement Test (PAT), developed by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER). PAT is mapped to the Australian Curriculum and New South Wales (NSW) Syllabus.
What is PAT?
PAT is not a pass-or-fail exam. Instead, it’s a supportive tool that gives us a snapshot of what your child already knows and what they are ready to learn at the next level. Think of it as an academic check-up that helps us tailor our teaching to meet your child exactly where they are.
Purpose
- Plan effective lessons that target the needs of the students.
- Set meaningful and personal learning goals with each student.
- Track growth over time, ensuring we celebrate progress and support every step of the journey.
