From Professional Growth to Human Development

Through its Professional Development Training Week, Sydney School reaffirms its commitment to enhancing teaching quality and pedagogical expertise, ensuring that every student enjoys the best possible learning experience.

At the end of October, Sydney School organized a Professional Development (PD) Training session, part of the PD Training Week, to help teachers maximize the use of AI to nurture students’ critical and creative thinking. In the 21st century, AI has been increasingly integrated into schools to optimize teaching practices and improve classroom management. With the support of AI, teachers can personalize their teaching based on the students’ individual abilities, helping them access global educational resources and experience lessons that are more interactive and engaging.

During this PD Training session, our teachers not only learned how to effectively apply technology in their teaching but also discussed ways to guide students in using AI responsibly to strengthen their critical thinking, one of the most essential skills in the digital era. While AI brings many advantages, it can also impact students’ thinking patterns, such as limiting their ability to gather information independently, making them more vulnerable to social media manipulation, or encouraging overreliance on AI in decision-making. Only when used properly can AI truly foster analytical skills and independent thought.

The PD Training sessions were not one-way learning experiences. Instead, teachers actively exchanged classroom experiences, shared best practices, and engaged in open discussions to refine the most effective teaching approaches. Beyond professional learning, these sessions also served as a space for teachers to recharge, reignite their passion for education, and strengthen a collective spirit of dedication and collaboration.

From professional growth to human development, PD Training Week is held regularly throughout the academic year. Through these sessions, teachers are fully equipped to inspire a love of learning, helping students become joyful learners who pursue lifelong learning with confidence and curiosity.
